Submission to the REDD+ Partnership Concerning the Work Program for 2010
On behalf of the following Member and Observer Organizations of the Ecosystems Climate Alliance
, Author(s): on behalf of the following Member and Observer Organizations of the Ecosystems Climate Alliance: the Wilderness Society, Global Witness, Wetlands International, Rainforest Foundation Norway, Environmental Investigation Agency, Humane Society International, Kenya Young Greens, Australian Orangutan Project.
This submission contains the input from a number of members of the Ecosystems Climate Alliance (ECA) to the REDD+ Partnership workplan, as per the invitation for input by the Chairs of the Partnership.
Description:
The submission covers all components of the workplan. ECA recommends stating explictly that the Work Program's aim is to ensure that actions taken by the Partnership will contribute to a REDD+ mechanism that will keep natural forest ecosystems (including peatlands) intact and their carbon out of the atmosphere in a way that is equitable, transparent, and consistent with the rights of Indigenous Peoples and local communities. This needs to be addressed in all elements of the Work Program.
Representatives of ECA will attend the REDD+ Partnership meeting on 2 October in Tianjin, China.
